Wolves opinion: Nuno Santo wants Morgan Sanson – good choice?

According to a report from MSN, Wolves are set to battle Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Marseille’s Morgan Sanson in the summer. The Frenchman could effectively be a replacement for Ruben Neves, who has been linked with a move away from the Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been incredible since their return to the Premier League this season. Wolves are currently placed 7th and have a European adventure for next season set in their sights.

The club will have to invest in top players to continue their incredible progression in the Premier League as well as in Europe if they make it there at the end of the season.

If Ruben Neves does leave in the summer, Wolves will be left with 29-year-old Romain Saiss and 32-year-old Joao Moutinho in the middle of the park.

Summer signing Leander Dendoncker has had a tough start to life in the Premier League and impressive youngster Morgan Gibbs-White is highly inexperienced to take up all the responsibility.

Nuno Santo will have to address this area of his squad in the summer and look to bring in a solid midfielder capable of playing both as a number 6 or as a number 8. Morgan Sanson checks all the boxes and would be a phenomenal signing for Wolves in the summer.

Sanson has been a mainstay in the Marseille squad so far this season, having missed just three games in the league so far. The 24-year-old has mainly featured as a number 6 so far this season but has been directly involved in 7 goals so far.

One of the many reasons why Sanson will be a brilliant fit at Wolves is his ability to adapt to games. Sanson’s role in Rudi Garcia’s system at Marseille usually depends on the position of his midfield partner.

Sanson has been partnered with either Maxime Lopez or Kevin Strootman this campaign and he usually starts in a deeper role. But both the Frenchman and his partner in the midfield switch roles constantly to confuse the opposition markers.

When Sanson sits back in the midfield, his partner makes the driving runs and vice-versa. This would be a brilliant addition to the Wolves squad, whose style of play with Neves and Moutinho at times is very similar.

Along with all his incredible technical traits on the pitch, Sanson is hugely experienced for a 24-year-old. The Frenchman has played over 200 senior games in his club career so far and this would be a massive trait for a fairly young Wolves squad.

Conclusion

Wolves could not possibly go wrong with the addition of Morgan Sanson to their squad and he will bring in a lot of quality to their side.

The Frenchman also has valuable experience in Europe, which would be of massive help especially if Wolves make it to the Europa League next season.

Wolves will find it difficult to lure him to their squad especially with a club as big as Borussia Dortmund in the hunt for him but the Premier League side should push hard.
