English football’s newest superstar, Dele Alli has reassured Tottenham fans that he isn’t thinking about a move away from the club and that he is enjoying his time at the London club.
The 21-year-old midfielder was quoted by Daily Mirror as saying;
“It’s not really something I am thinking about too much. I think people get too worried about where they are going to end up and lose focus on the journey and not enjoying it. So, for me, as a player, I’m signed at Tottenham and I am enjoying it. Who knows where I am going to end up but I am enjoying the journey.”
With the young England international literally committing his future to the club, Spurs fans can now breathe a sigh of relief, as well as dream of something bigger than just good performances. Under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have come tantalisingly close to winning the Premier League title on two occasions and have fallen short. Both fans and the club will now be hoping for something special after the reassurance of Dele Alli.
It’s a not regular thing when one of the most successful managers in world football calls you the best England midfielder since Paul Gascoigne. Sir Alex Ferguson firmly believes that he has seen enough of Dele Alli to believe that he could become an influential player for both Spurs and England going into the future.
Even Alli’s current manager, Mauricio Pochettino has described the Spurs midfielder as “the most important emergence from English football in recent years.” The numbers speak for themselves as Alli finished with 22 goals and 13 assists across all competitions last season, as well as winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award, which was the second time in two years. At just 21 years of age, Alli is already showing signs of becoming a world class footballer.
So the fact that the young Englishman chose to ignore interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe to stay at White Hart Lane shows his commitment to Tottenham.
For the past decade, Tottenham FC could only manage to challenge for major titles without any success. But from what we have seen from the Spurs and especially Dele Alli in the last two seasons, the chance to lift a major trophy doesn’t look too far away.
