With A New Stadium Move On The Cards, Tottenham Can Go On To Win The Premier League Next Season

One can see the new £850m Tottenham stadium rising high and handsome at North London. There is hope amongst chairman Daniel Levy, Mauricio Pochettino and co. and the fans that stadium will be ready in time before the start of the new season.

Spurs have played their home games at Wembley this season and after a slow start at the national stadium, Pochettino and his boys started getting the results. The Wembley stadium which once looked to be an ill omen for Spurs, became a hunting ground as they delivered some eye-catching wins this season against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, just like the last few years under Pochettino, Tottenham started very well this season only to fade away towards the fag end of it. They lost to relegation-threatened West Brom on Saturday and while it looked like they will be cruising into top-four, things have started to look bit nervy as Chelsea have gathered late momentum.

The big question now for Spurs is how they can challenge for the title next season, with the return to the new stadium. This season is going to end without silverware and Pochettino should start planning for the next one. Of course, it is disappointing but there is no point in crying over spilt milk.

Pochettino has done a lot of good work since taking over at Tottenham. He has built a team; ruthless, relentless and always hungry to improve. All is good but continuous faltering at the death has proved costly season after season. The current season has been no different as Spurs faltered once again at Wembley against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

However, a highly anticipated move to the new stadium could get them back into their groove next season. In Pochettino, the Lilywhites have one of the most exciting young managers in Europe, running one of the most exciting young teams. Despite a tight budget that has seen them constantly fail to rub shoulders with the Premier League’s elites, Tottenham could be there again, challenging for the title.

There is no doubt regarding the gulf that champions Manchester City have built between them and the rest of the clubs. City are a team that would be difficult to beat next season but Spurs must not lose hope as Pochettino will look to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window.

The way that Pochettino has already broken barriers suggests that he believes there is much more to come. There is a lot of quality in the current Tottenham team and the manager is expected to get back to the drawing board this summer to try and formulate how they can win the title next term.

There are minor elements of the team that needs sharpening which could yet prove to be the difference but they will have a colossal new stadium which the fans are dying to get inside. A return to their permanent home could be the boost they need in order to challenge for the title next season.
