Tottenham’s season is unravelling fast after another defeat at the weekend. Spurs were humbled 7-2 by Bayern Munich in midweek and then lost 3-0 to Brighton.
There hasn’t been much to cheer for the club this season, and several of their stars could become free agents at the end of the campaign.
Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are in the final year of their deals. Apart from that, Son Heung-min’s agent didn’t rule out a move to Napoli in the future.
Thies Bliemeister told Radio Marte (h/t AS) that Son likes the country:
“As for Son at Napoli, why not? You can never say never in football. Son likes Italy, the food and Italian people.”
The £140,000-a-week South Korean scored a brace in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace but that has been the highlight of the season so far for him.
Tottenham might be in trouble but losing Son would put them in more problems.
Son might not be the one leading the Tottenham attack regularly but the South Korean has scored goals regularly since making his switch from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old struggled in his first season but has scored 21, 18 and 20 goals in all competitions for Spurs since then.
The Asian can play in several positions and provides Mauricio Pochettino with an incredible scope of fielding him.
Son doesn’t make a fuss over a lack of playing time and works his socks off for the team. The 27-year-old also gives it his all for the club and was exceptional last season.
Tottenham reached the Champions League final but were unable to land the title. However, Son won almost every club award last season. The South Korean landed the Tottenham Player of the Season, Tottenham Goal of the Season and the London Player of the Year award.
Son might be one of the most underrated performers in the Premier League and seems to remain fit and available for most of the season.
The South Korean averages playing in 50 games for the past three seasons while Harry Kane manages an average of 42, mostly due to injuries.
Son has been one of the best Tottenham signings in the Premier League era and has more to give the club.
The South Korean is an important member of the side and cannot be sold anytime soon.
