According to Liverpool Echo, Everton have named their price for Cenk Tosun ahead of a potential January sale.
Cenk Tosun, 28, joined Everton for £27million back in January 2018 but has found game time hard to come by under Marco Silva. Despite a successful six months at the club, the Turkey international fell down the pecking order under Silva, struggling to impress when given the opportunity to lead the attack last season.
This season, the striker’s stock has decreased even further, having made just one Premier League appearance so far, coming off the bench against Sheffield United.
As he is deemed surplus to requirements, Everton are willing to sell Tosun for £10million in the winter window as they look to raise funds for January purchases.
If Tosun isn’t playing and there are no immediate plans to integrate him into the starting line-up, it is better to offload him and use the funds from his sale on another striker.
Scoring goals has been a problem for the Toffees this season despite boasting the likes of Richarlison, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the forward department.
Silva needs a proven goalscorer in his ranks, someone who can not only finish off chances regularly but also act as a mentor to young guns like Kean and Calvert-Lewin. In that regard, it would make complete sense for Everton to reignite their interest in Benfica striker Haris Seferovic.
Haris Seferovic, 27, who was linked to Everton in June, hit 27 goals in all competitions for Benfica last season. Everton have tended to move for younger targets, so the Switzerland international would be a break from the norm. But at 27, he is young and would improve the Toffees’ potency in the attack.
The Swiss was hardly the most prolific of strikers after all, struggling to find the back of the net regularly during spells at Fiorentina, Real Sociedad and Eintracht Frankfurt. But he found his shooting boots since moving to Benfica in 2017 and has never looked back.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Seferovic is a quality player who can lead the line, play in a front-two formation and also on the right flank if required. Strong and powerful, he is a technically gifted forward who can hold the ball up well and link-up with his teammates. The 27-year-old’s imposing figure helps him in aerial duels, making him a handful for defenders in the box.
If he arrives at the Goodison Park, the former Real Sociedad and Eintracht Frankfurt man could either partner with Kean up front, play as a second striker or operate on the right flank to help manager Silva play the 4-2-3-1 formation.
All in all, we can conclude by saying that Everton would be wise to take a gamble on Seferovic in January.
