Why This Long Term Chelsea Target Should Move To Manchester United?

Share

The transfer rumours are only going to get stronger as the season goes on. After a failed attempt to sign John Stones by Chelsea, it is now time for another giant from the Premier League to try and sign him.

Manchester United are the next team who seem to be lining up a bid for the highly rated 21-year-old. Everton have been great value this season and Stones has been at the heart of their defence, which might still leak goals once in a while but he does put in a great shift every time he puts on the blue jersey of the Toffees.

Manchester United seem to have made the Everton defender a priority in the upcoming transfer windows and will be trying to do their best to get his signature but is this the right move for the 21-year-old?

A Red from a Blue?

Reports suggest that Manchester United are willing to spend up to £50 million to land the coveted defender. That would make him one of the most expensive defenders in the history of the game and this could also match Everton’s valuation of Stones.

One stumbling block in the Chelsea fiasco was the price but Roberto Martinez and Stones also made it perfectly clear that he did not want to move to Chelsea. Moving to Manchester United however is a different story and this could actually happen for the youngster.

Louis van Gaal is doing a complete overhaul of the team in Manchester, the likes of Depay, Martial and Damian are just a few examples of his belief in a younger side and Stones would fit perfectly in this little plan that Van Gaal is trying to hatch.

Stones is also one of the best defenders in the league and bringing him to United would help them as much as it would help his growth. United are known for their defensive outlook to games, having the best defensive record in the league and that can further be strengthened by the signing of Stones.

Stones would also get to play more games here at United than at Chelsea. Manchester United have required someone who can partner their star in central defence Chris Smalling and the 21-year-old could well be the answer to that problem.

Manchester United also have history with Everton, although they did sign Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini for large sums of money, Leighton Baines was one player who didn’t move from the Blue half of Merseyside to the Red half of Manchester.

This transfer could well happen though. Everton would get an enormous amount of money, which would be hard to resist, Stones would get to play with a team that knows how to defend and well he doesn’t have to play for Chelsea after the season they are having. A win-win situation for all?
