Why getting Yannick Bolasie is a game-changing signing by Aston Villa

According to BBC, Championship club Aston Villa signed Everton’s winger Yannick Bolasie on a season-long loan deal. The 29-year-old joined the Toffees back in 2016 for a fee of around £25m on a five-year contract.

The DR Congo international was very happy upon his arrival at the Villa Park. He talked about coming to the club and experiencing a “wow” factor, which has stirred him up to perform very well from day one.

For Aston Villa, this is a kind of upliftment they required after a fairly negative summer and an indifferent start to this season. Manager Steve Bruce would be a happy man after getting someone of high quality into his ranks for this season, which is quite pivotal for the club in the grand scheme of things.

Here’s why Bolasie’s signing could be a game-changer for Villa this season as they bid to get back into the Premier League:

Bolasie was a star man for Crystal Palace before joining Everton in 2016 under Ronald Koeman. However, an unfortunate injury kept him out of first-team action for more than a year, which really hampered his progress at Goodison Park.

Yannick Bolasie

He is a dynamic wide player who has the ability to take people on and drive past them in a flash. The Congolese possesses a special talent of going both ways with the ball in wide areas. He can cut inside and unleash a shot, or go outside towards the byline and deliver a dangerous cross.

Bolasie is a very direct runner with the ball, meaning he would be an exponent on the counter-attack when there is space to exploit. All in all, the former Palace winger has it all to become a crucial player for Villa this season.

Verdict

Aston Villa craved for a game-changing player, who could instantly make a difference to their season. In Bolasie, they have someone who can lift the crowd up by creating a moment of magic. The club needs that after a pale summer. Maybe the Congolese is the man to fire them to the Premier League.
