Why The Transfer Of This 30-year Old Would Be A Win Win Situation For Both Arsenal And West Ham

Share

Arsenal have had an average 2015-16 season. The side will be looking to build more on their form to compete for the title in the coming season. Some ins and outs are heavily necessary in the squad as Arteta, Flamini, and Rosicky will be leaving the North London club.

In terms of defenders, the Gunners surely got a star for their future. I’m talking about the Spanish full-back Hector Bellerin. After Chambers was hit by a long-term injury, Wenger decided to go for the young versatile full-back and it turned out to be a blockbuster decision.

Hector is one of the fastest footballers in the league, and besides that, he has a great footballing mind. He has the energy, and also the positive mentality to keep fighting for the whole 90 mins. Yes, he surely needs to work on his defensive capabilities, but he is still 21, and will surely improve that aspect of his game in the coming years.

As the new season will approach, Arsenal will welcome their French full-back Mathieu Debuchy, who has spent his 2015-16 season at Bordeaux, on loan from Arsenal. After a great display in the 2014 World Cup, Arsenal decided to sign him in the same year and the Frenchman completed a £10 million move to the Emirates from Newcastle United. The Frenchman didn’t have a very good time at the Emirates as he was hit by many injuries and eventually, he lost his place to Hector Bellerin.

As he will be returning to Arsenal this summer, so the big question that arises here is, Does Wenger still has a place for the 30-year-old fullback in the squad?

To be very honest, I don’t think Wenger has any plans for the Frenchman in his squad. Arsenal already have Bellerin and Chambers, who can easily beat Debuchy in the first team game. Now, the recent report states that West Ham United are considering a move for Debuchy in the coming transfer market.

A New Beginning, Maybe-

This actually can be a great deal for both Arsenal as well as for West Ham. Mathieu Debuchy doesn’t have a great stats to show for this season due to his injuries. In his entire season with the French side, Debuchy has managed just 9 appearances for the side in the Ligue 1 and hasn’t had a great impact overall.

Talking specifically about West Ham United, the team has just one tough right back in the form of Carl Jenkinson. Yes, they do have some young guns, but they lack the required experience for the big games. Debuchy, at his peak, was considered as one of the all-around full backs in the sport. He showed a real character in the 2014 World Cup and caught the eyes of many European giants including Manchester United and Juventus.

West Ham United were a much better side this season, and their manager, Slaven Bilic will be looking to build on some momentum and keep it going in the upcoming season. Debuchy won’t be a game-changing signing, but he can still cover the domestic league games for the side and provide an extra option for the manager.

As mentioned earlier, it is very much clear that Debuchy’s Arsenal career is almost over, and Arsenal can still do a profitable trade with West Ham United which makes this deal a win-win situation for all the parties involved.
