According to reports from Daily Mail, Manchester United are trying to get rid of Alexis Sanchez permanently and are hoping that Inter Milan would sign him after the loan spell.
After underperforming for United, Alexis followed Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on a loan deal.
The Chilean joined United in January 2018 in a swap deal from Arsenal, which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other direction.
Since joining United, Sanchez played 45 games for them but scored just 5 times. His time at Old Trafford did not go down well as a result of injuries and various other reasons.
The Chilean was impressive in his previous stint in Italy. Later on, at Barcelona, he developed into a more powerful forward. During his time at Arsenal, he scored 80 goals and provided 45 assists in 166 appearances for the Gunners.
His second spell in Italy has also been halted by injuries so far, having featured in only 3 games for the Nerazzurri. A peroneus tendon injury has stopped the revival of his career for the time being at least.
Despite starting the season on a slow note, the Red Devils have started to gather momentum and are steadily moving in pursuit of a top-four finish. The return of Anthony Martial from injury has made the United attack look better.
Daniel James and Marcus Rashford have been combining well for the past few weeks and academy product, Mason Greenwood, has also worked wonders for Solskjaer’s squad.
United also have Jesse Lingard at their disposal in the attack. From this, it is evident that Solskjaer has placed his trust in the youth. Summer signings Aaron wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire are a testament to his belief in youngsters.
Even if Sanchez returns to Old Trafford after the loan, he is unlikely to have a starting place in United’s line-up and keeping him at the club would also be expensive. Sanchez’s four-and-a-half-year deal worth £14m-a-year would be a waste of money.
His inconsistency, along with injuries, has cost United a lot and his stats are proof of a heavy decline in his career.
It would be good for Solskjaer and United to get rid of the 30-year-old as soon as possible.
