Why Newcastle should make use of Everton’s massive clear-out and sign this 29-year-old beast winger

According to reports, Everton are looking to dispose the deadwood in their squad before making improvements this summer.

Marcel Brands, the club’s new director of football, has confirmed the club will try to offload as much as 12 players this summer. And out of those 12 players, Yannick Bolasie could also be sold if the Toffees receive good offers.

Bolasie joined Everton from Crystal Palace in 2016 and despite making a promising start, the player has endured a forgettable time at Goodison Park. The winger spent over 12 months on the sidelines due to an injury and scored just one goal in 16 league games for Everton this past campaign.

While Marcel Brands and new Everton manager Marco Silva are considering selling Bolasie, should Newcastle sign the winger?

Newcastle enjoyed a solid season in the Premier League, with Rafael Benitez guiding the Tyneside club to a tenth-place finish. On a shoe-string budget, it was a massive achievement for Newcastle but if they are to improve next season, attacking reinforcements should be the need of the hour.

The likes of Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Matt Ritchie failed to break down tightest of defences this past season. When they needed pace on the break to hurt their opponents, Benitez had no players to turn to. Also, the Magpies had Kenedy on loan last term and his return to Chelsea will leave a hole in Benitez’s squad.

Thus, Newcastle should fill that place with the signing of Bolasie, who is a tricky and dynamic winger.

The Magpies could be a real threat with Bolasie, as the 29-year-old would offer raw pace and unpredictability down the left flank. The Congolese player operates with high intensity and speed and he would bring a touch of guile at Newcastle.

Kenedy

The former Crystal Palace winger has a wealth of Premier League experience and his technical abilities, coupled with tricks and flicks, make him a solid threat for defenders across the league. Upon his return from a cruciate ligament injury, the 29-year-old was not at his best this past season but he could be a real gem for Newcastle.

If Everton are realistic about the prospect of selling Bolasie, Benitez must bring him to St.James’ Park. The Magpies need to bolster their attacking department this summer and a player of Bolasie’s quality could be a major coup.
