Why Newcastle Have To Stop Playing The Waiting Game Or Risk Losing Millions Of Pounds

After a bitterly disappointing showing by Newcastle against Huddersfield in the league this season, Mike Ashley MUST realise that the Premier League is actually a simple fix in some ways – you need to spend!

He tells the fans that his club cannot compete with countries, but you do not need to. You just have to compete. Also, there is no financial sense in not spending more money given the long term benefits it would bring. This club, despite the brilliance of Rafa Benitez, has a distinct whiff of relegation fodder about it and going back to the Championship would be a financial disaster for the discount clothing salesman.

The club needs a minimum of two or three signings before the window closes, and not Chelsea rejects either. Proper, Premier League standard players, who for their part would love to play at SJP, and work with Rafa the Gaffer.

Losing to Tottenham with 10 men is no disgrace on the face of it; however that was at home, there was no attacking threat and Tottenham had not strengthened their squad. They have since gone on to lose to Chelsea. Newcastle were also beaten fair and square by Huddersfield and that is not a good sign.

There have been some positives so far, with Joselu looking good when he came on. Mikel Merino clearly has talent, but the injuries and suspensions are already killing Newcastle and we’ve barely kicked a ball this season. Fans hoping for a repeat of last season, losing the opening two games before having a sterling campaign, may be in for a big shock.

Never in history have Newcastle fans been so negative but I have to say it’s more than forgivable. For them, it’s not all about the Premier League as such. It’s simply about playing up to your abilities. A club of this size, from a sports-mad city and being the only football club there, should really be routinely in the top six in England. Anything less means the people at the club are not doing their jobs correctly – this has been known in Newcastle ever since Mike Ashley took over.

The fans are NOT STUPID. Ashley says that he is not cash-rich and that he cannot put money into the club – nonsense. He has recently invested £200million in a building project in London, the idea being that he knows he will get his money back with interest.

If he does not put money into NUFC and quickly, he risks losing hundreds of millions of pounds when the clubs goes back to the Championship. That cannot happen.
