Everton’s creativity woes would be solved if Marco Silva starts utilizing this 27-year-old star more often

Why Marco Silva needs to get Djibril Sidibe more involved at Everton

Just before the season started, there was a lot of excitement around Goodison Park after an exciting transfer window with many new names looking to make their name for the Toffees.

However, Everton have learnt over the last couple of years that nothing is won in the transfer window. If that was the case, Champions League football would have been a certainty by now as they’ve been one of the highest spenders over the last couple of seasons.

After their loss at home to Sheffield United on the weekend, Marco Silva is a man under pressure and the reasons for this are mainly because Lucas Digne has been the only real source of creativity and the defence has no longer got the protection of Idrissa Gueye.

One player they might get some creativity from is their loan signing, Djibril Sidibe, who joined from Monaco. The Frenchman is an international and while he’s not the best defensively like Digne, he still offers a lot going forward.

Despite Monaco suffering their worst season in years, he still managed 4 assists last season and in the 17/18 season, he managed 9 assists and 3 goals. He also managed 8 assists and 3 goals in the season before, where he and Benjamin Mendy terrorised the flanks.

The 27-year-old still has a lot to offer and will definitely provide more of an attacking threat than Coleman, who is the captain of the side. Coleman has a lot of industry but hasn’t been the same player since his injury and was even dropped for a period last season.

Marco Silva can’t compromise and should go with an attacking line-up as he’s unable to achieve either at this current time to get Everton fans onside.

His hands are tied currently as his squad doesn’t have the balance at the moment and he’ll be in trouble if the results continue to be as poor as they have been.

He cannot keep playing Coleman just because of his seniority as it might be the difference him keeping his job. If his full-backs are his best outlet for creativity then he should stick to that and it’ll allow his forwards to move inside and use their combination play to create goalscoring chances.

Everton face Manchester City in their next game and the chances of them getting anything out of that game won’t be great. There isn’t that much to lose in such games and it might be a good idea to finally make some use of their new signing.
