Manchester United have had a season filled with ups and downs, where there have been some real positives but they look thin in some areas. As a result, they’ve had to depend on the academy to fill up the rest of the positions.
This has been the case in the forward areas especially, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has trusted Daniel James, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford so far. They have done quite well, with 3 goals contributed each.
However, an injury to any one of them will make the team look lighter up top. Another issue is that they have a lot of players who are suited to play on the left-wing and there aren’t enough on the other end.
One player they should renew interest in is Juventus’ Douglas Costa, who was linked with the club in the past.
Costa is naturally suited to playing on the right-wing, as he can cut in with his left foot to create opportunities and score goals. He was criminally underutilized last season under the previous boss but has been given a chance to prove himself under Maurizio Sarri, having registered 2 assists already.
Last season, he made the most of his appearances off the bench after being very impressive in the previous season with 14 assists and 6 goals in all competitions. More importantly, he was extremely crucial for Juventus in the latter stages of the season.
Costa’s creative numbers will be of particular interest, as United have lacked in that department as well. Daniel James’ ability to go to the byline and zip crosses will help the side soon and if they have someone like Costa doing the same on the other end, it’ll help massively.
After all, there’s nothing more dangerous than wingers who can go on the outside and inside.

United desperately need to get back on track. This would’ve been a lot easier with more additions in the forward area and United should attempt to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
