According to Spanish publication AS, Barcelona are preparing a huge bid to bring Atletico star Saul Niguez to the Camp Nou. Saul has a release clause of €150million but according to the report, Barcelona’s bid will be in the region of €110million.
Atletico might be hesitant to let Saul go to a rival and should rather let him leave to a different league. Chelsea were willing to sign the Spaniard according to the report but their transfer ban has ruled them out of contention.
Manchester United, on the other hand, need a world-class midfielder and they should swoop in for the signature of the Atletico man.
Manchester United’s big money signing of Fred from Shakthar has failed miserably with just 7 starts in the league and the Red Devils need someone else to fill that void. Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.
Saul is a complete midfielder and the 24-year-old has excelled in every position he has played in. He can sit at the base of the midfield and play the role of a destroyer or as a deep-lying creator. Saul can also play on the wing and has impressed when deployed there.
Saul’s ability to find space off the ball when played as a number 8 makes him a really dangerous player and this combined with his ability to find a pass in the final third will cause havoc in the opposition defence.
As a number 6, Saul can dominate games from start to finish with his exquisite passing range and the ability to drive forward on his own. His goal after an extraordinary run against Bayern Munich displays his driving ability perfectly.
Saul at Manchester United would be absolutely brilliant and would complement star man Paul Pogba brilliantly. His ability to play with or in place of Nemanja Matic would give a wide range of options for the manager and the signing is a no-brainer.
