Erling Haaland has been on fire since joining FC Salzburg in the summer. The 19-year-old forward has scored 11 goals in 8 league games this season and even bagged a hat-trick on his Champions League debut.
The 19-year-old also scored at Anfield in a 4-3 losing cause against Liverpool and has been scoring goals for the U20 Norway side for fun. He bagged nine goals from three games for the U20s and has played for the senior side too.
Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in Haaland, according to AS (h/t Sky Sports), with Real Madrid also keen on the Norwegian. The teenager had spoken about liking the Premier League (h/t Sun), and the Red Devils need to do all they can to land the 19-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had managed the youngster during his time at Molde, and Haaland could be a part of the puzzle to fix Manchester United.
The Red Devils’ attack seems a little out of sorts with just Marcus Rashford available to play as the striker. The Englishman does a better job out wide and hasn’t been able to fire for his team upfront.
United are severely handicapped with regards to strikers after selling Romelu Lukaku in the summer. Alexis Sanchez also left the club on loan, while Anthony Martial also does a good job when cutting in from out wide. Mason Greenwood is still a raw talent but Haaland seems to be the real deal.
Haaland isn’t fazed by facing top teams, as he has shown in the Champions League, and there is a lot of talent in him. Solskjaer would know how to get the best out of the youngster and the 19-year-old will only improve further in the right environment.
The United manager has a lot of work to do on this side but fixing the attack has to be the top priority. Haaland might not have the experience on his side, but his raw talent and energy could be the spark that the Red Devils need to get going.
United have always played quick, attacking football, and the 19-year-old would thrive with Daniel James, Rashford and Martial providing the width.
United need someone to bring the excitement back into the side, and Haaland is capable of doing just that. The youngster has been excellent for Salzburg so far, and it will be interesting to see how he does with bigger games on the way soon.
