Why Man United have struck gold with a deal for Noam Emeran

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United youngster Noam Emeran has put pen to paper on professional terms with the Red Devils after settling down in his new surroundings.

The highly-rated teenage prospect initially joined Man United from French outfit Amiens on scholarship terms earlier in the year but the Red Devils have moved quickly to secure his long-term future with a maiden professional deal.

The 17-year-old, who is capable of playing out wide and through the middle, is yet to make his bow for the club’s U-18 side due to an injury that he had picked up prior to the start of the campaign but United have seemingly seen enough promise in the starlet to integrate him into their long-term plans moving forward.

The Red Devils grabbed the headlines when the beat off competition from several continental heavyweights, including the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, in the race to sign Noam Emeran and the talented teenager has now pledged his future to the club by agreeing on professional terms. Son of former Rwanda international Flitz Emeran Nkusi, Noam Emeran started his footballing education at lower division French outfit L’Entente SSG before joining Amiens at the U-19 level back in the summer of 2017.

Emeran was widely regarded as a prodigious talent with vast potential during his days at Amiens and his arrival at Old Trafford in February roughly coincided with United’s acquisition of another wonderkid from Monaco, Hannibal Mejri.

To put things into perspective, Man United’s renewed faith in promoting young talent from their academy ranks has been well-documented under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a professional deal for Noam Emeran comes as a piece of welcome news to the club faithful.

That the Red Devils have already opted to offer him professional terms without the 17-year-old making a single appearance across any age group is a clear indication of how highly he is rated by the coaching staff and the fans will be hoping for him to join the U-18s in the U-18 Premier League somewhere down the line this term once he returns from his injury.

Verdict

Academy prospects like Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, Brandon Williams, Angel Gomes and several others have benefitted hugely from Solskjer’s philosophy of blooding youngsters in the senior ranks and Noam Emeran could also get his chance to impress if he manages to prove his worth at U-18 and U-23 levels.

Emeran, though, still has several stages remaining in his development curve, ranging from featuring across various age groups for the Red Devils to going out on loan to some Football League clubs in the lower divisions.

However, given his obvious potential, Man United have every reason to believe that he can possibly repay the kind of faith that they have shown in his abilities.

The Red Devils need to keep polishing a few gems of their own if they are to regain their lost status as one of the powerhouses in Europe and it doesn’t require a professional analyst to figure out that the professional deal for Emeran comes as a step in the right direction.

Suffice to say, Man United securing the future of Noam Emeran is in perfect alignment to Solskajer’s principles and is another reminder of the fact that the club is making a lot of progress behind the scenes despite their mediocre run of form in the Premier League.
