According to legit, Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is being targeted by Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi, who has promised to bring the Nigeran to the Istanbul club in the winter transfer window.
The report further claims that the Foxes striker may sign an 18-month loan deal if the negotiations pull through.
Iheanacho has managed just 16 appearances since joining the Foxes in 2017 from Manchester City. He is yet to feature in any Premier League game this season under new manager Brendon Rodgers. He only featured for Leicester City against Luton Town in the third round of the League Cup this term.
Iheanacho also struggled last season, finding the back of the net just once and providing merely three assists in 30 league appearances. Even though his first season at the King Power stadium was not great, it was still better than the last term.
It’s a no-brainer for Brendon Rodgers to continue with Jamie Vardy in the starting line-up ahead of Iheanacho.
Leicester are not playing in any European competition and Rodgers will have no pressure of keeping an extra striker in the squad. Even though there will be a busy Premier League schedule during Christmas time, it still makes sense for Vardy to continue as the undisputed No. 9.
That said, the club must aim to secure a European spot at the end of the season. And in order to keep such high hopes alive, the former Liverpool manager must avoid providing starts to an out-of-form Iheanacho.
It will be a great opportunity for Rodgers and Leicester City to offload a player who has made his presence felt only at the training ground.
Leicester should consider the option of selling him on a permanent deal in the winter transfer window and should be on the lookout for a possible long-time replacement for Jamie Vardy.
Vardy will be 33 in January and will be soon running out of gas. It will be an ideal situation for Rodgers to let go of Iheanacho and maybe start concentrating on finding a future striker.
