Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa have had an absolutely superb season in the Championship. While they have gone off the tracks in recent times, they are still on course to get promoted.
With just a few games left to go, a small slip-up by the top two could give Leeds a chance of automatic promotion. However, that isn’t to say that the Whites don’t need reinforcements next season, because they do need a few additions.
A new right-back to help back-up Luke Ayling, another winger to back-up Jack Clarke and a new striker are all needed. Kemar Roofe is their top scorer but barring that, few other players have managed to have the same impact this season.
Patrick Bamford has stepped up in the 26-year-old Roofe’s absence, with four goals in his last five games, but he isn’t a long-term option.
That being said, there are few players around the world who the Whites could capture but one man they should target is Josh Sargent. The Werder Bremen star has been a rising star for quite some time, even making his debut for US at the age of 18, scoring two goals in six appearances for the Americans.
While his country may not be too excited about the young striker, he has the potential to do great things in the near future. A delightful cocktail of speed, agility, strength and even exceptional dribbling skills, Sargent is a lot more than just that.
Besides being just athletically perfect, Sargent has the brain and spatial awareness to become a great forward. More so, his work rate is absolutely incredible and something that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will love.
The former Argentine manager likes his players to do their fair share of work both offensively and defensively for club and country, which is exactly what Josh Sargent does. It has showed this season, with him producing 11 goals in 21 appearances this season.
The American international would be close to perfect for the Whites and his burgeoning talent does mean that he would be a long-term option. Together alongside Jack Clarke, Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton, Leeds will have a very bright future.

Adding someone as talented and lethal as Josh Sargent would be a win-win for Leeds United. At the age of 18, the American has a very bright future ahead of him, and it’s one that will do Leeds United a lot of good.
