Why Hull City Have Made A Good Deal With The Imminent Arrival Of This Arsenal Midfielder

Why Jon Toral Would Be A Good Signing For Hull City

In a bid to resurrect themselves and get back to where they feel they belong, recently-relegated Hull City are reportedly in advanced talks with Arsenal regarding a deal to sign midfielder Jon Toral.

The Tigers are on somewhat of a transfer mission this week, looking to sign up to three more players before the deadline, with Swansea City man Stephen Kingsley expected to arrive as part of Sam Clucas’ big money move to the Liberty Stadium. Closer though, is the arrival of Toral, with the 22-year-old academy product’s deal close to completion already.

Toral has been out on loan for each of the past three seasons, having played in the Championship, La Liga in Spain and also in the Scottish Premiership last year.

The midfielder starred in various games under manager Mark Warburton back in 2014/15 for Brentford in the Championship, scoring six times in 30-odd appearances before working with the same man again at north of the border.

Warburton took Toral to Rangers for another loan spell last season where he did very well in short bursts, though the relative chaos behind the scenes did not help. Before long, Warburton and his cohort David Weir had left for Nottingham Forest.

In between, Toral spent some time on loan at both Birmingham City in England and Granada in Spain, all the while gaining more football education. Birmingham have of course moved themselves to sign two other Arsenal men, with Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall having joined on loan.

The Tigers though have been busy in the summer transfer market thus far, with Clucas now joining Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone, Harry Maguire and Andy Robertson in ditching the club and looking for other opportunities.

Manager Slutsky, still new to the job following the departure of the impressive Marco Silva who is now with Watford, has so far managed to entice Seb Larsson, Callum Burton, Ondrej Mazuch, Kevin Stewart, Fraizer Campbell and Liam Edwards to the club, in what can only be described as a mini revolution at the KCOM.

To be fair, such a revolution was needed at Hull this summer and although their chances of bouncing back to the Premier League still look fairly slim after having lost their best players, the new men at least provide some hope for the long-suffering fans that their season may not be lost so early in the piece.
