Why Everton Needs Stability More Than Anything At The Moment And This Portuguese Manager Is Not The Right Man

Why Marco Silva Is Not The Man For Everton Right Now

Ever since Everton sacked Ronald Koeman after making a disappointing start to the new Premier League season, they have been linked with Watford’s hotshot manager Marco Silva. In contrary to the Toffees’ dismal start, the Hornets are doing extremely well.

As of now, they seem to have cemented a spot for themselves in the top 10 and have a newfound sense of dynamism in the team. The way Silva has rallied the team to perform better; bringing in a player like Richarlison, has been the talk of the season so far.

However, if reports are to be believed, Silva continues to be targeted by Everton as the club are desperate to bring a manager like him to work his magic like he did at Vicarage Road. Is he the right manager to bring the Toffees out their misery though?

Although David Unsworth is in charge now, the results have been anything but encouraging for them. They fought hard against bottom-placed Crystal Palace but eventually settled for a 2-2 draw. It is quite evident that they need a manager who can inject some much-needed power into the squad. Considering what Silva has done for Watford, it does make him a viable option.

If that were to happen, managing Everton will be Silva’s third job in a year. He joined Hull City in January and then moved to Watford once the club got relegated. The Hornets, too, have not had a stable manager in the last couple of seasons. Quique Sanchez Flores and Walter Mazzarri were both in charge only for one campaign but if they are to aspire for greater things, Watford will have to invest trust in one manager to do so.

That does seem like the case with Silva so far. They trust him and know that he is more than capable of taking them further. As far as Everton are concerned, they need a manager like Silva who can inspire even the youngest and most inexperienced players to take up leading roles.

For example, at Hull, Harry Maguire made a remarkable improvement while Richarlison at Watford is being regarded as one of the best youngsters in the Premier League. Considering the amount of money Everton spent over the summer in bringing in new recruits, Silva seems ideal.

That said, can they trust him to work his magic at a club that is failing so poorly? He is quite ambitious after all, and perhaps Everton need stability more than ambition right now.
