According to a report in Italian outlet TuttomercatoWeb, Premier League club Everton are looking to sign Gabriel Barbosa on an initial loan deal from Inter Milan in the January transfer window. The striker had been linked with the Merseyside club before as well, but the move didn’t happen for the Toffees.
It is claimed that Marco Silva’s men will propose a loan deal for the Brazilian with an option to buy him later in the summer window. The Merseysiders are already in contact with the Serie A club for this possible offer.
Inter Milan signed the striker for a fee of around €25m during the 2016 summer transfer window. He developed himself into a quality forward in his native country but flattered to deceive after arriving in Italy.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Santos but Inter are looking to offload him as soon as possible. They may even sell the player for €15m (h/t TMW). Here’s why Everton should take a chance and sign the Brazilian on a temporary deal initially.
Even though it didn’t happen for Gabriel Barbosa at Inter Milan, he is still a prodigious striker in front of the goal. His loan spell at Santos has proved that he can score goals on a regular basis, having netted 17 goals in 34 appearances for the Brazilian club.
Everton have made a terrific start to the season, lying at 6th position in the table and looking a proper team under the management of Marco Silva. Their defence looks strong, having shipped in only 15 goals in 13 games, which is way below average when compared to last season.
However, the only area in which they are still short is the forward line. The Toffees need a striker to lead the line, be a target man and score goals in abundance.
Cenk Tosun, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse don’t seem to be the answer for this problem, hence, it is imperative that the Toffees buy a new striker sooner than later. Having been linked with Barbosa before, getting him should be the next step in January.

Except for his spell at San Siro, the Brazilian has shown that he is lethal enough to step onto the field in the Premier League and be successful. If Everton have any doubts, they can sign him on a temporary loan deal and if he fires, they can then sign him permanently in the summer.
