According to the Metro, Everton have now joined the exciting race for the signature of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman would be a free agent in the summer and a number of teams have been tracking him over the last few weeks.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all said to be in the chase but it is Everton who are the frontrunners at the moment.
The report suggests that the Toffees are preparing a £150,000-a-week package in a five-year-deal. Such a long-term deal could be a tempting one given that he will be a certain starter at Everton. (Metro)
The Toffees are currently a club on the rise, with manager Marco Silva so far doing a splendid job. They have already acquired Theo Walcott from the Gunners and Ramsey would further enhance this squad.
The midfielder is known for his technical superiority and his ability to dictate the game on the field. He is capable of playing as a central midfielder and a central attacking midfielder. The Toffees currently deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation under Silva and they have lacked one quality central midfielder in the squad.
The manager has resorted to fielding Tom Davies alongside Idrissa Gueye due to Morgan Schneiderlin’s poor form but the arrival of Ramsey will completely transform their midfield setup. Alongside Gueye, Ramsey will certainly flourish in Silva’s system.
With the Senegalese midfielder willing to do all the dirty work in the middle of the park, Ramsey can comfortably pull the strings and make things happen in the final third. His passing is excellent as we have seen all these years. He can be an able provider for the likes Walcott, Richarlison and Cenk Tosun.
Ramsey is brilliant at picking the ball up from deep areas and surging forward to support the attack. The Welshman is also more than willing to track back and provide the defence with some security.
Everton must certainly beat their competitors and do everything it takes to bring in the Arsenal midfielder. They are in dire need of a top central midfielder and the acquisition of the Welshman will solve their dilemma once and for all. More than anything else, he would be a statement signing.
