According to a report from the Derby Telegraph, Burnley have tabled a £7million bid for Derby County’s 18-year-old full-back Jayden Bogle.
The youngster only made his debut at the start of this season but has performed brilliantly and has cemented a first-team role for himself.
His consistent showing in the Championship for the Rams has caught the attention of Sean Dyche and the Clarets have placed a bid for the 18-year-old with the hope of luring him to the Turf Moor at the start of next season.
The Clarets have Phil Bardsley playing regularly at right-back in recent games but the veteran will turn 34 in the summer. First-choice right-back Matthew Lowton will also enter his thirties in June and Sean Dyche’s side have to look for somebody younger to take over the reins.
The interest in Jayden Bogle comes as no surprise, with the youngster being one of the biggest prospects in the Championship this season. Bogle, at just 18, will be a phenomenal understudy to Lowton and could well take over from the former Aston Villa full-back soon.
Bogle made his senior debut for the Rams against Millwall in the third game of the season and has since missed just four games in the Championship. The 18-year-old has provided 4 assists so far this season and his quality proves that he has a massive future ahead of him.
Bogle is a typical English full-back who excels due to his brilliant burst of pace. The youngster is a real threat on the attack but due to his speed, he can make up ground quickly to get back and defend.
Bogle has the rare gift of sensing threats, which is an incredible asset for somebody so young. The young Englishman’s positioning has been really impressive and under Sean Dyche, he could improve massively in that area of his game.
The Rams, if they fail to get promoted to the Premier League next season, will face a massive battle to keep hold of Bogle and Burnley have to make a move for the player.
