Arsenal’s attacking future would be sorted if they sign this £60.5m Brazilian likened to Kaka

Why Arsenal signing wonderkid Reinier Jesus would be a good move

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun), Arsenal has conducted talks with Brazilian wonderkid Reinier Jesus’ father.

The 17-year-old Jesus currently plays for Brazilian side Flamengo and has scored four goals and provided two assists from 12 games this season.

It seems the Gunners had made talks with the young playmaker’s father, who was apparently in Europe in search of potential suitors for his son, as claimed by Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun).

The Brazilian has a release clause of £60.5million in his contract and has attracted interest from many top clubs in Europe such as PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Juventus.

Jesus, who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, has also featured for the under-17 Brazilian side.

He has been equally remarkable for the Selecao, scoring 5 goals from 10 games.

His performances over the year had also caught the attention of Merseyside club Everton, who according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun), is planning a move for the teenager in January.

However, the Gunners are hopeful that the youngster would be encouraged to make a move to the Emirates following fellow countrymen Gabrielle Martinelli’s $6million move to the London side.

Martinelli, on the other hand, has been an instant hit among the fans after his seven goals for the Gunners from various cup competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have had a difficult start to their season, and are sixth in the table as of now.

After failing to secure a victory in any of their last four matches, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has come under the scanner for his side’s poor show this season.

A champions league berth still hangs in the balance for the Gunners, who last played the tournament three years back.

Moreover, with the Spaniard reshuffling his team according to the necessities of the game, the players have not yet adjusted to a specific game style or formation until now.

Also, experienced campaigner Mesut Ozil has been far from impressive this season, making just three appearances. The German is yet to open his account and looks lost for ideas.

Dani Ceballos, who arrived from Real Madrid on loan this summer could offer Emery some option in the attack. However, the Spanish midfielder is currently injured, and out.

With the dearth of creative players in Arsenal’s ranks at the moment, it would surely be a valuable addition if a move for Jesus falls through.

Jesus, who has often been likened to former Brazilian star player Kaka, could maybe be the one creative option that they clearly lack upfront.

Verdict

With Ozil clearly not up to his best and Emery still dissatisfied with the German’s on-field displays, a move for the young Jesus would surely offer more firepower.

Moreover, Jesus could be a long-term replacement for the German playmaker, who turned 31 this year.
