Martial could be the Gunners’ new hitman and they should replace Welbeck

Unai Emery seems to be building a new empire at Arsenal with his footballing philosophy and managerial nous. The Spanish coach has brought in a number of signings over the last month, given that he will be faced with the immediate task to take the Gunners back into the top-four.

After finishing in Europa League spots for two consecutive years, the manager will be aiming to display his wisdom and prowess on the field.

The former PSG manager is not yet done with his shopping and is looking to add more players to bolster the squad. The transfer window will be closing early this time after the FA revised the rules. Unai Emery could look to Manchester United winger Anthony Martial, who has been linked with an exit from the club.

Martial has reportedly left Manchester United’s training camp to be present for his child’s birth. There’s no clarification as to whether the Frenchman had authorisation from Mourinho but it seems as though the manager hasn’t included him in his plans. The Arsenal manager could use this opportunity to lure the former Monaco man to the Emirates.

Anthony Martial made the move to Manchester United in 2015 after making a name for himself in the Ligue 1. He scored 11 goals in 49 appearances for the French outfit. Martial began his Manchester United career in stunning fashion, coming off the bench to score against arch-rivals Liverpool in the dying minutes of the game.

He has gone on to make a total of 86 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 24 goals and providing 15 assists. But the Frenchman has seen himself fall down the pecking order over the last two years. The 22-year-old is often restricted to a bench role but has still been impressive for the club.

The French winger made a total of 20 appearances in the Premier League last season, of which 12 were off the bench. The former Monaco man still managed to rack up 9 goals and provide 5 assists. Though Martial was often warming the bench, he was instrumental whenever he was brought on.

The Frenchman is usually deployed as a left-winger but he is also capable of playing on the right. He’s comfortable playing as a No.9 due to his versatility.

With devastating pace, Martial uses his impressive ball control and body feints to glide past his markers. He averaged 1.6 shots per game. The winger is also a neat passer of the ball, averaging a pass success rate of 81.9% in the league last season.

Martial would seamlessly fit it into Unai Emery’s squad. The former PSG coach could offload the £70,000-a-week Welbeck and sign the Frenchman in his place. He possesses all the qualities to go on and become a top Gunner. Arsenal are already looking considerably strong and with the addition of Martial, they could go on and win the league.
