Why Aaron Ramsdale signing a new deal at Bournemouth is a fantastic move

According to a report by BBC, Bournemouth keeper Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new long-term deal with the club that is going to keep him at the Vitality for years to come.

The England U21 international, who arrived at the south coast back in the January window of 2017 for a fee around £1m (h/t Bournemouth Echo), has played every Premier League game this season, as manager Eddie Howe believes he is the man to keep the gloves now.

Aaron Ramsdale is now Bournemouth’s number one keeper

Ramsdale is an academy product of Sheffield United. After signing for the Cherries, he went on loan to Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon before returning and taking the number one role in the team.

With Howe’s men making a decent start to the season, it is clear that the 21-year-old is settling in well and slowly proving his worth.

Below, we analyse his game in depth and conclude as to why Bournemouth were right to hand him a new long-term deal:

Ramsdale has the traits of a great goalkeeper

Aaron Ramsdale is a fantastic young goalkeeper who has risen through the ranks in Yorkshire and is now one of the better youth level stoppers around, especially at the U21 and U23 levels.

In terms of his attributes, he covers a large portion of the game while diving to make saves. Having made 29 saves from shots on target in nine games at an average of more than three, he is setting high standards. (Premier League)

Furthermore, the 21-year-old is comfortable with the ball at his feet and dominates his six-yard box. He doesn’t mind coming out of the line to make sweeping clearances.

All in all, it can be said that at such a young age, the England U21 international has all the makings of becoming a great goalkeeper in the future.
