Who’s This Versatile 23-Year-Old Attacker On Burnley’s Radar? Everything You Need To Know

Jordan Jones

Scout Report – Jordan Jones

Burnley are reportedly eyeing a January move for Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones. The Northern Ireland player has been making waves in the Scottish Premiership for his speedy and electric performances, which seems to have attracted Sean Dyche. In fact, his form has earned him a call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad in recent times and Jones does seem to bring a lot to the table.

As the season progresses, Burnley will need reinforcements to ensure their aspirations do not die down and for that, a player like Jones could help them. That said, let’s take a closer look at the player’s profile.

History

Born in 1994 in Middlesbrough, England, Jones started out as a youth player at his hometown club. He rapidly progressed through the ranks and made one appearance for the first-team but then was sent out on loan to Hartlepool United in 2015, followed by another temporary spell at Cambridge United. The player was released from Middlesbrough in 2016 and that was when he made the switch to join the Scottish team.

At the age of 17, he represented the Northern Ireland U19 team and recently made an appearance for the senior team in FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Norway.

Playing Style

The first thing anybody notices about Jones is his incredible trickery on the field. He is not only skilled but also possesses the pace, and combines them both beautifully to produce stunning results for his club. He has made 19 appearances for Kilmarnock this season and has chipped in with 2 goals. His creativity up front often sets up chances for his teammates and that will be an attractive proposition for Dyche.

Adept at dribbling and passing, Jones can also play in a number of positions. He is a bit weak when it comes to aerial encounters but besides that, the player seems to have Premier League potential.

Jones’ Future

Dyche could most certainly do with a player like Jones who can play incredibly as an attacking midfielder and as a secondary striker even though his main position is on the left wing. He could provide competition for Robbie Brady while also proving to be a nice bout of fresh talent in the squad. The road will only get difficult for Burnley hereafter and so to have a versatile player like Jones will be advantageous in the event of unforeseen injuries. Moreover, his inclusion could also provide Dyche with a choice to experiment a bit with his formation – especially when it comes to his attackers.
