Scout Report – Bobby Kamwa

As per a report from Leeds United’s official website, the club have offered new terms to youngster Bobby Kamwa and the player has signed a professional contract with them. His deal will run for the next two-and-a-half years and at 18 years of age, the teenager is regarded as one of the most promising prospects to emerge from the Leeds academy.

He is now set to make the step up to the next level and play for the U23 side after excelling in his performances for the U18s. After the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce managed to break into the first-team, Kamwa will also be hoping for the same. But how good is the player? Let’s take a closer look at his profile.

History

Born in 2000 in Yaounde, Cameroon, Kamwa moved to England at quite an early age and he joined Leeds’ prestigious academy as a youth star. From there, the road was quite tough but the player settled in and focused on progressing through the ranks.

Gradually, his performances improved and that helped him move past his competitors rapidly. In a recently held youth tournament at Qatar, Kamwa was the standout performer for the Leeds U18 side and that is a major reason behind the club awarding him a new contract.

He is now set to play for the U23 side but his main focus will be on breaking into the first-team. If he plays his cards right, Kamwa might receive a chance to do just that as Leeds will be looking to make amends next term after this disastrous season.

Playing Style

A midfielder by trade, Kamwa is quite effective at creating goals and scoring them as well. In fact, he has scored quite a few crucial goals for the U18 side and he seems to be showing no signs of slowing down. Despite being just 18 years of age, Kamwa is technically sound and is blessed with ample knowledge of the game. His physicality is quite impressive as well and if nurtured the right way, Kamwa can go onto achieve greater things in life.

However, as a teenager, he has a long way to go before he can become a finished product. Like any other player of his age, Kamwa needs to sharpen his defensive skills and also work on maintaining his concentration throughout the game.

Kamwa’s Future

As things stand right now, Kamwa has a bright future at hand. This new contract with Leeds will definitely mean a lot to him and now it is solely up to how he grabs this opportunity. Playing for the U23s will certainly help him improve his game and bring about a sense of maturity as well. All this will eventually help him break into the first-team and it is safe to say that he is on the right path.
