Scout Report – Keinan Davis

According to many reports, Arsenal and Manchester United are among a number of clubs tracking Aston Villa youngster Keinan Davis.

Davis, 19, has made a strong start to the season for Villa and hence, it holds no surprises that Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United have all sent their scouts to watch the youngster.

With an interest in the striker from the top Premier League clubs reaching its peak, here we take a close look at who Keinan Davis really is and what qualities he would bring to those clubs if signed.

Origin

Born on February 13, 1998 in Stevenage, England, Keinan Davis started his professional football career  at the age of 15 with league two side Stevenage’s academy. However, he was released by Coach Darren Sarll in 2015. Davis was then picked up by Biggleswade Town’s under-18 coach Dave Northfield.

In December 2015, following a four week trial and after being scouted in a friendly between Biggleswade Town Under-18s and an Aston Villa youth side, Davis signed for Villa on an 18-month contract.

Having signed as a 17-year-old teenager, Davis made his first team debut just over a year later after coming off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup in January 2017, where Villa lost 2-0. Manager Steve Bruce gave Davis his full debut in last month’s win over Norwich. And since then, the striker has gone on to start Villa’s last 7 Championship games.

Davis featured towards the end of Villa’s campaign last season, and has bulldozed his way into Bruce’s plans this season. He partners Ivorian Jonathan Kodjia in the attack, and the duo is proving too hot to handle in the Championship. Davis was on the score-sheet against both Barnsley and Burton as he banged in two brilliant headers.

What Does He Offer?

Much stronger and pacy than his boy-self who joined Villa, Davis is now showing what he is actually capable of. While Stevenage cut his dream of becoming a professional footballer at the club, Davis, at Villa, is proving his detractors wrong.

In a year and a half, Davis has improved significantly in holding the ball up. Standing at 6ft 2in, he is a tall, strong and imposing presence at the top of the attack, who can brush aside his opponents with his strength and power.

Davis is already a powerhouse at the age of 19 who is capable of bullying defences with his clever movement and power. The striker has helped Villa win their last three Championship matches, and he has hit the back of the net twice in his last three appearances. Due to his strong physique, the forward has shown that he can hold up the play really well and bring his teammates into the game.

What Does The Future Hold?

After his brilliant start to life in Aston Villa’s first-team, there is no reason to get shocked that the Premier League’s elite are starting to sit up and take notice. At such a tender age, Davies may struggle to play in the Premier League, but he has shown some commendable potential. Even if a big club signs him, he won’t directly walk into the first team. However, he could prove to be an exciting addition as he is still 19 and is only going to get better.
