Scout Report – Nathael Julan

Le Havre striker Nathael Julan has been the subject of interest from a bunch of English clubs this summer and is apparently now wanted by Wolves, Norwich, Crystal Palace and Stoke.

Julas has made an incredible start to the season at Le Havre, having already scored 5 goals in three games in all competitions. He actually came off the bench in two of those games too, making his record even more impressive.  Here is what we know about him so far:

History

Born in Montivilliers, Julan has spent all of his football career so far at Le Havre, having joined them as a raw 18-year-old back in 2014. He played for three years in the B team, scoring an impressive 22 goals in 51 appearances before graduating to the senior squad.

Once he entered Le Havre’s first team, his progression continued and his record has stood out. So far he has played 30 games for the club and has netted 9 times, with most of his goals coming in more recent matches as he continues on a steep upward curve.

Style Of Play

Although not basing his whole game on his prowess in the air, Julan is very tall and uses that presence very well. He has good movement and is competent on the ball, but only wants to play strictly as a number nine, a proper centre-forward.

You will not find Julan playing down the wings or coming deep too often. So as such, he needs to be fed. Playing in a side with genuine wingers would help him, as would having a traditional number 10 behind him. As long as players are creating chances, Julan will put them away at any level.

His Future

Much like other tall and rangey strikers such as Andy Carroll and Fernando Llorente, Julan could probably score a similar amount of goals no matter what level he plays at. If he came to England and went to League One, he may get 15+, but then again, if he went to the Premier League, he would very possibly bag a similar amount. So a chance will be taken on him by someone.

Wolves would perhaps be a good option for him; he would be allowed to play in his favoured no.9 position and would have a wealth of midfield solidity and chance-makers playing around him, which would mean he could fill his boots in the Championship. Give him another year, he’ll definitely be a Premier League player.
