Who Is This Belgian That Arsenal Are Monitoring To Sign? Everything You Need To Know

Share

It is not a secret to anyone that Arsenal, led by Arsene Wenger, has been always trying to recruit all the best young talent that every other team can’t. They have one of the best academies in Europe (maybe comparable to Dutch ones), and they know where to look to find those talented underdogs who others cannot find.

Throughout these years, Arsenal has been increasing the level of its academy and so the level of his young players. It is not a minor detail that they acquire Cesc Fabregas when he was a teen and they developed the Spanish midfielder until he was one of the best players in his position across the world. No one knows how, but Arsenal seems to have a secret to find new players with great potential.

This time, we are talking about one of the most prominent talents of PSV academy, Matthias Verreth. Matthias has been a complete sensation this year, as the young lad has had impressive performances playing for PSV first-team after his breakthrough year playing with the youth team of the Dutch side, in which he showed great things that gave him the chance to make his professional debut.

He counts with 6 appearances this season for the current Eredivisie champions, and his shape, adding to his last year’s has made many people lay their eyes on the Belgian youngster, as Verreth has not only displayed his quality in PSV, but playing for his country, since he played for Belgian under-17 national team that was third in the 2015 World Cup. We can say that after that event, Matthias was tracked by all the top teams in Europe.

However Arsenal appears like the only frontrunner to sign Matthew, they have a hard competitor in AC Milan, as the Italians dream about having the kid in their ranks. We are in front of a player who can play either as a winger or as a central forward without any problem. However, his favorite and “natural” position is the right winger.

Last season he took the PSV youth-team to reach the third spot of the second division of Eredivisie. There is no doubt that this kid is going places. Since he moved to Netherlands in 2007, his career has been a complete rollercoaster that only goes up. This young lad is the new gem of Belgian football, which has been developing great talent in the last years, and this boy does not look like the exception.

Verreth is a fast player, pretty skilled with the ball at his feet and always looking for the net of the opponent. He is smart, as he has demonstrated during those years in which he has made the right moves to his careers. He could probably feel tempted to go to Premier League with Arsenal, but everything indicates that the youngster will stay in Netherlands for more time before jumping to North London or any other place.
