According to a report in Daily Mail, a host of Premier League clubs including West Ham, Everton, Wolves and Fulham are interested in signing Nantes striker Emiliano Sala. The French club have put a £25m price tag on the player, who is currently a joint top-scorer in the Ligue 1.
The 28-year-old Argentine has netted 11 league goals in 12 games, as a result of which, big clubs from England are getting attracted. (Daily Mail) Current Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri was at Nantes not a long while ago and hence, the Cottagers might have a bigger say in the winter window.
Earlier, it was believed that the French club would sell the striker for around £10m, but their owner Waldemar Kita wants more than double of that amount. It is justifiable as Sala is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment. (Daily Mail)
Here’s everything you need to know about the player:
Born in Argentina, Sala spent his youth footballing days at French club Bordeaux in 2010, before playing for the senior team in 2012. He then moved to Orleans, Niort and Caen on season-long loan deals to gain more playing time to improve his overall match fitness. The 28-year-old joined Nantes on 20 July 2015, and since then, he has been a talisman at the club.
He may not be the quickest in the world, but his finishing ability, combined with prodigious aerial ability makes him a force to reckon with. The Argentine is a fine finisher whenever given a chance in front of the goal and that’s what he has been doing on a regular basis this season.
Nantes are 10th in the Ligue 1 table with Sala’s goal-scoring exploits and hence, we can imagine the striker’s influence on the team. The club has scored 20 goals in total, out of which the 28-year-old has netted 11. Clearly, the team is dependent on their striker to provide the goods and win games.
Culminating all the facts, it is undeniable that the Argentine is a quality striker who will enhance the propensity of most attacks in the Premier League.
Amongst the clubs keeping close tabs on him, every one of them requires a forward man who can score goals in large numbers. From the player’s point of view, moving to the English top-flight and performing well would enable him to bag a bigger move sooner rather than later.
