Who Is The Eredivisie Midfielder On Victor Orta And Leeds United’s Radar? Everything You Need To Know

Scout Report – Brandley Kuwas

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen revealed last week that director of football Victor Orta was very much scouting new targets for the club and it seems one of them is Heracles winger Brandley Kuwas. Representatives of the Curacao international have apparently spoken with Leeds officials to discuss the move, with the Yorkshire club having kept tabs on him for a while now, with a January transfer in mind.

Kuwas is under contract with the Dutch side until 2019 and so a reasonable fee will be required for a man who has 3 goals and 9 assists in just 14 Eredivisie matches this term. The club don’t seem keen to lose Kuwas but are expecting a number of tempting bids for him when the window officially opens, with Leeds at the head of the queue.

Here’s what we know about him so far:

History

Born in Hoorn in the Netherlands but representing Curacao, Kuwas started his youth football career with Hellas before moving to AZ Alkmaar and KFC.

His professional break came in 2012 when he got into the FC Volendam side, one in which he played 103 times in the league and scored 15 goals.

A move to Excelsior followed in 2015 but after 34 Eredivisie appearances and 4 strikes, he moved after just a year to Heracles, where his meteoric rise is making him likely to move on once more with Leeds United hoping to be his next club.

Style Of Play

A left-footed player who prefers to start on the right-hand side of the attack and cut in on to his stronger foot, Kuwas in that way is very similar to Alioski and would give Leeds the look of a squad which has plenty of strength in depth. Playing this way has led to Kuwas proving his ability with his final ball; 9 assists and 3 goals being far from a shabby output.

He is averaging 82 minutes per game this season and so sees out his matches very well, with his powerful frame allowing for a surprising amount of stamina to go with his strength and speed which are not in question.

Kuwas’ Future

The Eredivisie doesn’t always produce superstars, but the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Luis Suarez have performed to a high standard there, before being snapped up by Europe’s big guns. Leeds may feel they have one here.

Kuwas, if he arrives in England, should be capable of playing to at least a fair Premier League standard. So the Championship should hold no fears for him.
