Scout Report – Nadiem Amiri

The domestic football circuit is at its strongest in Germany as almost every club has an academy with players who are set to compete at the highest level. In recent years, the country has produced some of the finest superstars in world football and the latest name doing the rounds is Nadiem Amiri.

According to reports, English clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all impressed with his performances for Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim and are looking to make a £20m move for him at the end of the season.

So who is Amiri? Why is he making the headlines? Here is a scout report of the youngster:

Born and brought up in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Amiri made a name for himself as a football after he moved to the academy at Hoffenheim back in 2012. He made his first senior appearance for the side in 2015 but immediately established himself as a first-team star under manager Julian Nagelsmann and has already made 65 appearances in the German top flight.

Amiri has also represented Germany in every youth team, making 15 appearances for the U21 side, and was a part of the European Championship winners, from earlier in the year.

The German has two goals and two assists in 13 Bundesliga outings this season and is only getting better with more game time under his belt.

Versatility Is An Asset For Amiri

A versatile midfielder, who is more adept at playing in an attacking role, Amiri is at his best playing in a central role. A long-shot merchant who loves to unleash shots that constantly test goal-keepers from range, the 21-year old is a gifted player whose understanding of the game allows him to stay a step ahead of his opponent.

Amiri is defensively sound and can act as a shield for his backline but is more than capable of acting as the link between defence and attack, pushing his side into dangerous areas.

His skill and movement make it difficult for opponents to catch him and his intelligence on and off the ball makes the team look more coherent. It is players likes these that the biggest clubs in the world are looking to sign at the moment.

He has been the first choice at the Rhein-Neckar Arena for more than a couple of years now and it is best for him to continue playing on a regular basis and add more to his game. However tempted he may be with interests from England, he still has a lot of work to do on his overall output and unless he turns into a complete player, there is no reason for him to the leave the Bundesliga.

He is just 21 and has a bright future but do you think he should make a move to any of the English clubs that are desperate for his services, anytime soon?
