What If Wenger Leaves? Three Ideal Replacements Arsenal Should Look Out For

Share

With Arsenal’s horror show against Chelsea is still fresh in the mind that it would perhaps not be too out of order to consider other replacements for the job should Arsene Wenger finally decide that enough is enough and decides to call it a day.

Reports from Telegraph are claiming that this 6-0 defeat has shaken Arsene Wenger to the core and he has held heart-to-heart talks with Arsenal players asking them to play for him until the end of this season. In all seriousness there are chances that Arsene Wenger might leave Arsenal at the end of this current campaign even if the gunners manage to end their trophy drought by winning the F.A. Cup.

Here at Soccersouls we consider the three replacements who might be lined up in the summer should Arsene Wenger finally decide to leave Arsenal after seventeen seasons in charge.

Dragan Stojkovic

The former Serbian player is one person whom Arsene Wenger actually wants to take over at Arsenal when he leaves the club. Having played under Arsene Wenger in J League side Nagoya Grampus Eight, Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of this Serbian. Currently Stoikovic is the manager of the same side Nagoya Grampus Eight that Arsene Wenger managed so many years ago and it is well documented that the duo are still in touch. Arsene Wenger has even gone so far as to say that Stoikovic is the person who he wants to manage Arsenal when he is gone by claiming that “Our ideas are the same and we both strive for perfect football.”

Roberto Martinez

Another very likely replacement for Arsene Wenger is the current Everton manager Roberto Martinez. Having already worked his magic at Wigan where he defied the odds season after season to save relegation with a team which was very mediocre to say the least and has also managed to lift the F.A. Cup last season before moving on to the Merseyside club Everton.

Martinez is a person who believes in playing football the right way just like Arsene Wenger. While many doubted his ability to adapt to a bigger club like Everton where David Moyes had been manager for almost a decade, it is safe to say that Martinez have won his critics over with aplomb. Should Arsene Wenger decide to leave the board won’t go much wrong if they appoint the Spaniard Roberto Martinez in his stead.

Jurgen Klopp

The most sought after manager in world football who is also incredibly loyal to his club Borussia Dortmund, he is indeed the perfect man to replace Arsene Wenger if we are looking for a person who is of a similar stature when it comes to management. A proven winner who has won his fair share of trophies despite the presence of Bayern Munich proves that he can be an instant success at Arsenal despite the presence of big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. On paper he is the perfect person to replace Arsene Wenger should he decide to leave in the summer.
