West Ham’s Creative Spark Lanzini – The Best And The Worst Rated West Ham Players vs Manchester United

The Hammers suffered a 4th home defeat and their 10th of the season in the Premier League after questionable officiating saw them go down against Manchester United on Monday evening.

With a man down, the hosts resorted to defending and could only launch few counter attacks, with the visitors finding it hard to break them down.

The 2nd half started with much more promises, as West Ham attacked more and looked to create chances. Antonio had their best chance, only to shoot straight at De Gea after he had been put through on goal.

Few minutes later, Mata put United in front, and Ibrahimovic sealed the defeat for West Ham after a ball wasn’t properly cleared at the back. Though he was offside, but none of the officials took note, and Slaven Bilic would have been left to bemoan his side’s ill luck.

The defeat saw them drop down a place to 13th, but still far off the relegation zone with at least 7 points.

Had done a great job to keep Mkhitaryan well in check for the majority of the game but couldn’t continue that solid display against Rashford and was helpless as the youngster squared up Mata right in front of him.

Was influential at the back and came close to nodding in a goal at the other end.

Reduced Zlatan’s threat.

Ogbonna

With Collins still out, the Italy international played alongside Reid but wasn’t able to provide much-needed cover for Randolph and looked a weak link.

Cresswell

Couldn’t make anything out of his failed attempted crosses, falling awkwardly on one occasion when he had a clear chance to make a key pass in United’s box.

Was the best outfield player for West Ham, as he provided vigour in the middle and helped initiate the few attacks they made.

Wasn’t particularly impressive on the attack but did stay with Pogba all game and used his strength to unsettle the French star.

Barely spent 15 minutes on the pitch before Mark Dean adjudged his harmless tackle of deserving a straight red card.

Was West Ham’s creative spark and was close to putting them in front with a fine curve in the first period.

He also laid a fine pass to Antonio’s way early in the second.

Fine set piece deliveries from the French international as usual but that was about anything noteworthy that he did before his withdrawal.

Wasted 2 clear chances and would have easily been man-of-the-match if he converted them, as his power and ability to hold on to the ball everytime West Ham broke forward were impressive.
