According to a report from Football Italia on the first of June, Napoli are keen to sign Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu in the summer. The Spaniard has had an impressive season in the Premier League but the temptation of Champions League football could prompt him to make a switch to Naples.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are gearing up for another tough Serie A campaign as they look to dislodge Juventus’ status as the best club in the country.
The Italian outfit finished runners-up in the league this season but with good transfers and Ancelotti’s brilliance, they could well go toe-to-toe with the Old Lady next summer.
A front three of Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon has produced the good but the Spaniard’s inconsistency has been the weak link in an otherwise flawless attack.
Napoli could do with a good right-winger to compliment the other players in attack and Gerard Deulofeu would be brilliant.
The former Barcelona man scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in an impressive campaign for the Hornets this season. Javi Gracia’s side have been massively helped with his pace and dribbling down the wings and losing him would be a big loss.
The report reveals that Watford will demand a fee of €30million for Deulofeu in the summer but Napoli look to have a trick up their sleeves to bring down the big number.
The Italian outfit are looking to include their wantaway midfielder Amadou Diawara in a deal which would see Watford’s star winger move the other way.
As important as Deulofeu has been for the Hornets this season, they should not stand in his way if he wants to leave to further develop his career. Watford will have a gem on their hands if this is true and they should take the offer without any second thoughts.
Diawara has expressed his desire to move into the Premier League and Watford will be lucky to have him. The 21-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in Italy but he has found it difficult to get game time considering how good midfield is.
The Guinean will form a brilliant midfield partnership with Doucoure and Capoue and Watford could really thrive with the trio in the centre of their park. Javi Gracia should have no hesitation over the proposed deal and he should look to build his side around Diawara in the coming years.

Amadou Diawara would be a dream signing for Watford and the Hornets getting him as a part of another deal makes it even better.
Javi Gracia will have a real gem on his hands next season if they manage to sign the Guinean in the summer and Watford could start the season as favourites for the European places with him next season.
