Watford Opinion: Lincoln has the potential to become a star at Watford

According to reports from The Watford Observer, Premier League club Watford are said to be keen on signing Brazilian youngster Lincoln from Flamengo. He is seen as a massive talent with a bright future in England.

As suggested by the report, the Hornets are also said to be interested in Corinthians forward Gustavo. There are obvious reasons for their interest in young South American forwards as well.

As was seen in the summer prior to the start of the current season, Watford’s signing of Richarlison certainly paid them massive dividends. Having more than tripled the money they originally got him, Watford’s investment has paid off.

The money they got from Richarlison’s sale was reinvested extremely well by sealing the permanent services of former Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu and West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster among others.

By the sale of one player, they were able to strengthen in more than 4 positions and this should be motivation enough to tempt the chiefs at Vicarage Road to throw the dice on such a player once again.

As suggested by the report, this is exactly what they plan to do as a couple of bright Brazilian forwards have been linked to the Hornets. Out of the two, the player they should make their number one priority is the 18-year-old forward who plays for Flamengo.

Lincoln is a centre-forward who has developed at the famous Flamengo academy which is known for producing some of the greatest players the world has ever seen – including Ronaldinho and Adriano.

The teenager’s performances this season have been incredible and it comes as no surprise that Watford are interested. Although he has played 12 times for Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A this campaign, he is yet to find the back of the net.

Despite this, his control and composure on the ball are clear as day and for an 18-year-old, he is beyond mature on the football pitch. Smart decision-making and an excellent footballing brain are his main assets but he uses his feet well to finish as well.

Quite a pacy customer like his Brazilian counterpart Richarlison, Lincoln’s sharpness on the ball make him an amazing prospect. With the right kind of training and development, he could mature into the next Brazilian hero.
