According to a report in The Sun, Chelsea forward Kasey Palmer is set to make his loan move to Bristol City permanent in the coming days. The 22-year-old joined the Robins in January on a six-month loan deal.
Palmer ended his year-long loan deal with Blackburn in January and returned to Chelsea after an unimpressive spell. The Englishman played 14 games for the Riversiders in the Championship and scored just one goal.
Since his move to Bristol, Palmer has failed to start a single game but has come off the bench on 5 occasions. The Chelsea man scored on his debut for the Robins against Bolton after coming off the bench for the last 29 minutes of the game.
In his 5 substitute appearances for the club so far, Palmer has proven his versatility by playing on both wings and centrally as an attacking midfielder.
Palmer was also used as a false nine during his spell at Huddersfield Town, meaning he is capable of providing a wide range of options to Lee Johnson.
As an attacking midfielder, Palmer loves to drive into the final third after receiving the ball and create opportunities for his teammates. The 22-year-old is also brilliant at making late runs into the box and always seems to find himself at the right positions to tap in from close range.
On the wings, Palmer’s brilliant dribbling comes into play and he uses his speed and skills to take on and get away from defenders with ease. Palmer’s hold-up play is brilliant as he retains possession under challenges with the use of his robust frame before transitioning from defence to attack in the final third.
An area where he should improve is his fitness as injuries have often held him back in his short career. He scored 4 goals during his time with Huddersfield in half a season. Had he stayed fit, he could have easily broken into double figures.
Bristol are currently 6th and aiming to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the season. Palmer played a big part in helping Huddersfield get a promotion to the Premier League two years ago and he knows what it takes to get a team across the line.

The youngster’s experience in these difficult games should help Bristol in their promotion. A new contract will help motivate him to bring out his best. The Robins shouldn’t think twice in completing the deal as he can play a big part for them in the coming years irrespective of the club’s league status.
