Three Tottenham Youngsters Who Could Break Into The First Team This Season

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the quietest clubs in the Premier League this summer and if they do not lose any star players, Mauricio Pochettino seems to be happy with the options at his disposal. He will look to add one or two star players to strengthen particular positions in the squad but Spurs are in a decent position, having laid a strong foundation for the future.

Pochettino might not be able to lure his top transfer targets before the start of the season and this will leave him with his Academy stars to push into the first team. The Argentine is always supportive of youngsters who have the potential to shine and the average age of the squad is proof of the same. So it will not come as a surprise if he decides to use a couple of youngsters in the first team this season and here are three such players who could break into the first team in the upcoming campaign.

Josh Onomah

One of the most versatile players in the club’s academy, Onomah was pushed into the senior squad last season and he did get chances to impress the manager, which he did in style. He made 12 appearances across all competitions for the senior side and his ability to play anywhere in the midfield will surely attract the manager. At 20, he is surely ready for the next step and could be a serious part of the first team this season.

Shayon Harrison

Another product of the academy in the capital city, Harrison was promoted to the senior squad at the start of the previous season but was sent out on loan to Yeovil Town for the second half of the season, where he impressed, making 14 appearances in the league. Capable of playing as a lone striker and as a support striker, Harrison could be the best bet for Pochettino if he fails to add a genuine backup for Harry Kane in the first team. He is also 20 years old and will surely be in the plans of the manager this season.

William Miller

Having joined Spurs from Leyton Orient back in 2012, the versatile attacker was promoted to the first team last summer but he was soon sent out on loan to Burton Albion, where he failed to impress the manager, making just 12 appearances in the league. However, he is a creative force that can bamboozle even the best of defences and his ability to fill in the glaring weakness in attack for Spurs will make him an attractive option for Pochettino this season.
