Walcott On The Right, Nzozni In The Middle Behind Rooney – Dream Everton Lineup Post The January Transfer Window

With a run of decent results this month, Merseyside outfit Everton have climbed into the top half of the table and Sam Allardyce, their new manager, will be looking to break into the European spots, continuing their form in the second half of the season. The manager will get his shot at the market in January and it looks like he already has a list of players who he wants to add to his side.

A number of star players have been linked with a move to the Goodison Park in January but two names, that are exciting the fans are French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi and Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.

Both players would solve impending problems at the club, adding quality to the first-team but how will Everton look with their new signings in the mix? Here is Everton’s strongest lineup, including their top transfer targets, Theo Walcott and Steven N’Zonzi.

A Dream Everton XI

Allardyce has not tried any fancy formations at Everton and has decided to stick with a 4-2-3-1 system, that has worked wonders so far. He has also used a 4-4-2 for a few games. However, with Walcott and N’Zonzi in, a 4-2-3-1 is the best fit for the Toffees.

Jordan Pickford has been decent in goal for the Blues this season and is their best option. The back-4 has been interesting to watch under Allardyce, with two youngsters, racking up a lot of game time. Jonjoe Kenny at right-back and Mason Holgate as the right-sided CB have done an excellent job so far for the side but sooner or later, Michael Keane is expected to get back into the starting XI, partnered by Ashley Williams, who should remain the manager’s first choice.

Steven Nzonzi

Leighton Baines is still out injured and might not feature for at least another month. He is covered well by Cuco Martina so far and will be the right back in this XI.

Idrissa Gueye has been one of the best players for Everton this season and is an automatic starter for Allardyce but the likes of Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin are both expected to fall down the pecking order, with Sevilla man N’Zonzi partnering Gueye in a two-man midfield.

Wayne Rooney has probably been the best player for the club this season but he is not at his best when leading the attack up front. However, he should start as a support striker, which will see Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Sandro Ramirez or even Oumar Niasse lead the attack.

Gylfi Sigurdsson needs to step up his game and though he has been unproductive so far, he is one of the most talented players in the squad. He should start on the left wing while Theo Walcott, the new signing, will start on the right.

Apart from the striker’s role, Everton will have accumulated a squad that can fight for a European place this season.
