Two Transfer Ins and One Transfer Out That Could Boost Brentford’s Promotion Chances

Share

With the new Championship season not too far away, all the clubs in the division are looking at their squads and working out who to sell and who to buy to make the 2018/19 season a success.

Brentford will be looking to build on their excellent season last term as they finished 9th in the table, just 6 points adrift of the play-off places. It was a fantastic achievement for them and they will be looking to push on and finish in the top-six next season.

But what moves do they need to make to boost their promotion chances next season?

Ins

Josh Windass

Brentford need to bring in a striker to replace Lasse Vibe, and they could look to the Scottish Premier League to do so. Windass was in good form for Rangers last season, and it could be worth a gamble to bring him to the Championship and see how he performs.

He will certainly boost Brentford’s options up front, having scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Gers in the 2017/18 campaign.

Lucas Piazon

The Chelsea winger spent the last two seasons on loan at Fulham, who earned promotion to the Premier League after beating Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final. Piazon, who scored 12 goals and provided 9 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions for the Cottagers, is not expected to feature much for Chelsea next season.

As a result, he could look to leave Stamford Bridge again this summer and Brentford should look to sign him. However, the Bees need to act fast as Fulham reportedly want to sign Piazon on a permanent deal.

Outs

Alan Judge

Judge’s career just hasn’t panned out the way it should have over the last few years. He started excellently for Brentford and had an amazing season in the 2015/16 campaign before suffering a nasty leg injury.

Although he is now fully fit, he struggled to break into Brentford’s starting line-up last term. Judge needs regular first team football to regain his confidence and it seems he will struggle to achieve that at Brentford. It may be best for him to go out on loan so he can still remain a Brentford player, but he should definitely leave the club this summer for the best of his career.
