Two Things To Expect From Tottenham And Pochettino This Summer Including Some Departures

Two Things That Tottenham Should Look To Do This Summer

Mauricio Pochettino will be a happy man with the progress his side have made this season. They have been the most consistent team in the competition since the start of the previous season and though they have only a small shot at the league title this season, the manager will be adamant that his side can compete for the title next season.

The squad at the club has few issues that need to be resolved and Pochettino will be looking to venture into the transfer market to address these problems. They have all but qualified for the Champions League and the Argentine is sure to have some big plans for the summer.

Here are two things that Spurs might be planning to do in the upcoming transfer window:

Search for a backup for Harry Kane

The English striker has been in terrific form this season and stands as the top scorer for Spurs even after missing a couple of months this campaign. He is in prolific goalscoring form and has been a mainstay for Pochettino in every important game this season. However, Pochettino needs a backup for his star striker and though Vincent Janssen has shown some promise of late, the manager cannot depend on the youngster to be the only backup for Kane.

They need a player who can walk into the first team and lead the attack for the side and also have a similar effect when coming on from the bench. Bruma, Dries Mertens, and Andre Gray have all been linked with a move to the White Hart Lane and could be decent options.

Clear out non-performers to make place for new signings

Tottenham made some smart signings in the transfer window at the start of the season but Pochettino has not been able to integrate most of them into his first team. The manager would already be fed up with a couple of players in the squad and is sure to try and offload them this summer. Pochettino would be looking to add some quality to his squad and will want to reduce the wage burden on the club by letting all his underperformers leave the club at the end of the season.

The likes of Moussa Sissoko, Vincent Janssen and Kevin N’Koudou are all on the fringes of the first team and have not been able to impress the manager and Pochettino will be looking to get rid of at least a couple of names from his squad to make place for the incoming stars.
