Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are not too far away from lifting the Premier League title and they are expected to become stronger this summer. Like every team, the Blues are also expected to strengthen themselves in the summer. Chelsea are set to compete in all four competitions next season and Conte will need far more depth in his squad to achieve this feat.
He will also look to improve certain positions in the squad to try to establish an exciting squad for next season and will look to complete deals for his top transfer targets without too much fuss. They are believed to be scouting for a number of players but here are two things that Conte should concentrate on in the summer:
The Italian manager will be happy with the options at his disposal this season and will thank his stars for the lack of injuries to his squad throughout the season. However, they cannot go into the next season with a similar squad. Diego Costa may still lead the attack line for Chelsea but Michy Batshuayi cannot be the only player to act as a backup for the Spaniard. Eden Hazard, Pedro, and Willian are the only options to play behind Costa and they also need some additions there.
Chelsea will want to compete in all four competitions and Conte should be looking at his targets. He has been linked with a move for Andrea Belotti from Torino, Romelu Lukaku from Everton, Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan and Real Madrid duo James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata to solve his problems next season.
The Blues have one of the strongest first team squads in Europe and have star players playing all over the field. They have been impeccable playing together as a team and it does not come as a surprise that some of the biggest stars have been linked with a move away from the club. Star striker Diego Costa has constantly been linked with an exit this summer, with a couple of Chinese clubs desperate for him.
Playmaker Eden Hazard is also in a similar situation and is wanted at the Bernabeu by Zinedine Zidane who is desperate for new signings. Shot stopper Thibaut Courtois is in prime form and is a candidate for Zidane if he misses out on David de Gea, while Marcos Alonso has also not been able to avoid interests from the Spanish capital. It will be important for Conte to keep all these players together for the next season.
