Two Reasons Why Arsenal Should Not Sell This £34m Super Winger

Share

Earlier in this month, Guardian reported that Monaco want to buy Theo Walcott and they are ready to spend up to £34m for the speedster’s signature. This may well be just an another transfer rumor which pops up here and there, gets some good traffic to the internet sites, and then gets vanished without any trace, but the question that needs answering here is, should Wenger allow Theo Walcott to leave if a mega bid comes in their way for real?

Walcott is back

We at SoccerSouls believe Walcott is an essential piece in this Arsenal puzzle and Wenger & co should reject any bids that comes in their way without any second thoughts. Let’s look at some reasons to validate our stand on this subject,

1. Pace, Speed, Velocity

Even though, Arsenal rely on short one touch passes to create chances in their game, they need Theo Walcott in the team to give a new dimension to Arsenal’s attacking strength. It was very evident in their recent games, especially against United where the Gunners lacked width with two attacking midfielders playing in Wings. This is where they missed Theo.  The Speedster who inherited the famous no 14 shirt from Thierry Henry, has the ability to petrify opponent defenders with his untouchable pace and acceleration. With him in the squad, most of the full backs play safe and stay back most of the time, giving Arsenal the advantage.

Theo Walcott is still just 24 years old which means he can develop further in Arsenal colours.

2. Amazing Stats & Consistency

Theo Walcott was once termed as a player without any football brain by Chris Waddle. But, the English winger have some excellent stats under his belt for a player without any football brain.

Look at his stats from last 3 seasons ( Source: ESPN)

Walcott Stats

In 2011/12 season, Walcott had scored 9 goals with 11 assists and in 12/13 season, he improvised further, getting 22 goals and 16 assists. That’s some stats for a right winger. Therefore, We find no reasons why Arsenal should sell their super winger.

Theo Walcott who has been out of action for last two months with a stomach injury, is now fully fit again and expected to make his return against Southampton.
