Two Beast Strikers Chelsea Should Sign This January – Pick One Jose

Share

With the big names like Fernando Torres and Eto failing to impress this season, it looks like a clinical forward is the only missing piece in this Chelsea puzzle. Today, we will look at two big names who make this Chelsea side a formidable one.

1. Wayne Rooney

Rooney

A transfer saga that seems to reek of a never ending story. In 2010 the England international handed in a transfer request, and 3 years and another transfer request later he is still at Manchester United. However, there is seemingly an end in sight, as he is now in the final year and a half of his contract, meaning that if United want aren’t willing to sell him, this time next year he can sign a pre-contract with another club, which would see him leave for free. Rooney has a lot of Premier League experience, including 9 years at one of England’s top clubs, which is a massive plus for Chelsea, should they manage to pull his signing off in the new year. He’s quick and strong, which would give the Blues what they need up front, but lacks the clinicality of a top striker, and that goes against his cause. He would be worth signing for any Premier League club, but Jose Mourinho must weigh up the pros and cons of spending huge money on a striker who often struggles with form and fitness levels.

2. Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski

Now at the top of his meteoric rise to footballing super stardom, Robert Lewandowski has gone from Polish League striker to arguably Europe’s deadliest hitman in just 5 years. The Borussia Dortmund striker can sign a pre-contract agreement in January and leave the club for free this summer, while it is also possible that Die Borussen would accept a cut-price offer for their star man, to avoid letting him leave for free. Though it is widely expected that he will sign for arch rivals Bayern Munich in January and leave for free this summer, which would crush any hopes Chelsea may have had of signing him. WIth the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus also rumoured to be preparing bids for the former Lech Poznan striker in the new year, there is no shortage of top clubs looking at bringing the Poland international in this January.

So who should Jose sign? Lewa or Wazza?

Should Chelsea only move for one striker in January, they should open preliminary talks with Borussia Dortmund over the availability of Lewandowski, as it would only take the most biased of Manchester United fans to deny that the Poland international is by far the superior striker. Although signing Rooney may be settling for second best, his experience in the Premier League makes him a safe option, though we all thought the same when Fernando Torres back in 2011.
