Transfer News: Rangers plotting a move for Hertha BSC goalkeeper

Rangers News: Rangers are reportedly making a move for American goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann, claims The Sun.

The Light Blues cite the Hertha goalkeeper as a second-choice for the 38-year-old Allan McGregor and keeping in mind that the present back-ups Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick are seeking an exit this summer.

The report also states that the Gers scouted Jonathan in last week’s game against Lokomotiv Leipzig.

Jonathan, son of former German star Jurgen Klinsmann, spent his youth career with Bayern Munich and Strikers FC.

He later signed for the Bundesliga outfit Hertha BSC and subsequently played for the U-23 side.

The 22-year-old’s main team debut was against Ostersunds FC in Europa League this season.

Jonathan has made 20 appearances for United States’ U-20 squad and received his call-up for the first-team last year in the friendlies against England and Italy.

Possibilities of signing

The US shot-stopper has grown weary at Germany, owing to his lack of first-team opportunities.

And Ibrox would be the best place to up his career, given that current goalkeeper McGregor is in his twilight.

The Light Blues picked up a brilliant win against Celtic in the Old Firm derby last Sunday and the win was their fourth on the trot.

Steven Gerrard in his first season at Ibrox has fared really well despite ending up trophyless.

However, the Former Liverpool star showed some positive things such as making a swarm of good signings in the transfer window.

Gerrard also became the first manager to beat the Hoops twice in a single season at Ibrox over the years.
