Celtic FC News: Celtic manager Neil Lennon reportedly wants Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper, claims The Sun.
The 31-year-old will become a free agent at the end of this season.
A youth product of Tottenham, Hooper started his professional career with Gray Athletic, eventually making a great impact.
After his brilliant spell with Scunthorpe United, the Hoops soon bought the English forward in 2010.
Hooper had an extraordinary time at Park Head, scoring 50 plus goals in 95 appearances under the current interim manager Lennon.
He played a crucial role in helping the Northern Irish manager lift both the league title and Scottish cup in his first season.
Later, Hooper played for Norwich City before joining the owls
Lennon is keen on a reunion with Hooper if he gets the manager job on a permanent basis.
However, the English forward has fallen down the pecking order of Steve Bruce, limiting his appearances to just 6 this season.
On the other hand, the Celts’ forwards Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest are at their zenith and have been very instrumental for their side by clinching their eighth straight Premiership title.
The Hoops lacked a missing piece in their attack, with wingers Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke struggling to find their feet.
Hooper would be a smart addition, given that he arrived as a free agent, and there are added advantages with his experience and versatility.
He can help Lennon in reinforcing the Celts’ attack on an interim basis.
