Three Tottenham Players Who Performed Admirably For Their Countries During The International Break

The month of September was pretty extravagant for Tottenham with convincing wins over Borussia Dortmund and APOEL in the Champions League. Spurs have looked strong in all areas of the pitch and look like strong contenders for the League title, especially with the in-form Harry Kane in their ranks.

Going into the international break, Spurs enjoyed an easy 4-0 victory over Huddersfield in the Premier League. The international break could not keep Tottenham players away from the action as they represented their national sides for the World Cup qualifiers.

There were a few Spurs players who stood out for their national sides during the international break and managed to make quite an impression at the international level. Let’s take a look.

Harry Kane

The England striker continued his goal scoring form after bagging the deciding goals against Slovenia and Lithuania. England manager Gareth Southgate handed over the captain’s armband to Kane and he was the only player to have made a difference in England’s lethargic display in both the games.

Harry Kane managed to replicate his club form at international level despite being written off several times in the past. Kane is slowly turning into a genuine world-class talent and Spurs could have a tough time in keeping hold of him when big clubs come knocking.

Christian Eriksen

The Danish midfielder was at his usual best after scoring the winner against Montenegro last week and the opener against Romania on Sunday. The Spurs midfielder has put Denmark on the cusp of World Cup qualification with a play-off match reserved for next month.

Eriksen’s strike against Romania was his fifth in a row for Denmark, making him the first player to do so since Jon Dahl Tomasson in 2008.

Harry Winks

The 21-year-old Spurs midfielder made his England debut against Lithuania on Sunday under the management of Gareth Southgate and made quite an impression. The England youngster’s passing ability is said to be one of the biggest reasons why Southgate picked him in the team and rightly so.

In what was a borefest, Harry Wink’s performance was the only bright spot for England. Pundits and fans were full of praise for the 21-year-old who is slowly establishing himself at Tottenham as well as in the England national team.

Mauricio Pochettino clearly deserves all the praise for Winks’ development as he looks like an upgrade on Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere when it comes to England national team.
