Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace: 3 Key Battles

The other surprise team in the race for the Premier League title takes on Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. Tottenham have been incredible since the start of the season and Mauricio Pochettino would be looking to get at least one trophy into the cabinet by winning the FA Cup.

Tottenham had defeated Manchester City in the Premier League in their last game and could well be one of the favourites for the League title and even for the FA Cup. Crystal Palace though will not be pushovers as they have a decent record against the top sides and they could well cause an upset if Tottenham don’t play to their ability.

Spurs had to travel to Italy in midweek for the Europa League tie against Fiorentina and that is something that Palace would be looking to exploit, the tiredness coming into play. We look ahead to this intriguing tie a highlight the three main battles to keep an eye out for.

  1. Toby Alderweireld vs. Emmanuel Adebayor

In a battle of two men who are known for their physical prowess more than anything else, it will be interesting to see how the new Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor will do against his former side. Truth be told this Tottenham side is nothing like the side Adebayor played for.

Alderweireld will have to be extremely careful not to fall under the trap that Adebayor sets out for him, the former Spurs striker does have a great record when he faces his old clubs and he could shine in this tie as well.

2. Harry Kane vs. Scott Dann

Harry Kane

While Adebayor vs. Alderweireld will be a great battle to keep an eye on when the 22-year-old Kane goes up against one of the stand out defenders in the league this season Scott Dann. The Crystal Palace defender has been linked with a big-money move away from Selhurst Park and that would be incredible for him.

Harry Kane is the main man for Tottenham and the goal scoring burden would be on the English striker as well. Tottenham don’t have anyone apart from Kane who can lead the line as well as he can and will be looking to add to his tally 19 goals this season.

3. Wilfried Zaha vs. Danny Rose

In a battle of pacey men, it will be fun to see just who goes on top of this race. Wilfried Zaha is one of the fastest players in the league and more importantly, he will be extremely tricky to deal with.

Danny Rose could be the player who has to deal with the trickery of Zaha and the English left-back will be looking to seal his place in the Tottenham starting lineup and ensure that Mauricio Pochettino continues his good run with the team this season.
